We Make It - You Let It Cure

The Art of Handmade Soy Candles

There's something magical about opening a package from Cottontail Nook and discovering a freshly hand-poured soy candle waiting inside. But here's the secret that transforms a good candle into an extraordinary one: patience.

When your candle arrives at your door, it's not quite ready for its debut. And that's exactly how it should be.

The Journey Begins at Our Pour

Every Cottontail Nook candle starts with intention. Mimi J hand-pours each one using only the finest natural soy wax, carefully selecting premium fragrance oils that will soon fill your sanctuary. We work quickly—because we're passionate about getting your candle to you fast—but we never rush the craft itself.

Within 2 days of pouring, your candle is packed and on its way to you. But the real transformation? That happens in your hands.

Why Cure Matters: The 5-7 Day Magic

When soy wax is freshly poured, it's still settling. The fragrance oils are mingling with the wax, bonding at a molecular level. If you light your candle too soon, you're missing out on what makes handmade soy candles so special.

During those 5-7 days of curing, something beautiful happens:

Scent Throw Deepens – The fragrance becomes richer, fuller, and more complex. What might smell lovely on day one becomes absolutely captivating by day seven.

Burn Quality Improves – Properly cured candles burn more evenly, last longer, and create that perfect melt pool you're looking for.

Longevity Extends – A cured candle holds onto its scent for the full 30–110 hours we promise. Rush it, and you're shortchanging yourself.

The Wax Stabilizes – The soy wax reaches its ideal consistency, ensuring a smooth, even burn from first light to last.

The Joy of Anticipation

In a world of instant gratification, curing is a gift. It's an invitation to slow down.

When your Cottontail Nook candle arrives, you're not just receiving a product—you're receiving an experience waiting to unfold. Place it on your bedside table, your bathroom shelf, or your living room sanctuary. Let it sit. Anticipate the moment when you'll finally light it and step into the world Mimi J created for you.

This isn't a flaw in the process. It's the promise of something worth waiting for.

Unboxing & First Light: Making the Most of Your Candle

When your curing period is complete, you're ready for the magic:

  • Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before lighting

  • Allow the wax to melt completely across the top on first burn (this prevents tunneling)

  • Burn for 3-4 hours at a time for optimal scent throw

  • Never burn for more than 4 hours in one session

  • Keep away from drafts to ensure an even burn

Your patience during those 5-7 days of curing has set the stage for a candle that performs beautifully and lasts as long as promised.

We Make It. You Complete It.

At Cottontail Nook, we believe in transparency and partnership. We hand-pour your candle with care and send it to you quickly because we're excited to share it. But we trust you with the final, essential step: letting it cure.

This is what handmade means. It's not just about the pouring—it's about honoring the craft at every stage, including the waiting.

Your sanctuary is waiting. Let it cure. Let it become what it's meant to be.

Welcome to Cottontail Nook. Where every candle tells a story, and every story deserves time to unfold.
